In one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies, Rosalind is banished by her jealous uncle and, along with her cousin Celia, seeks refuge in the Forest of Arden, a place of love, joy, and frivolity. Rosalind, disguised as a boy, falls in love with Orlando and woos him in disguise. Comic confusion ensues but the play ends with a joyful wedding and a celebration of love. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, OPRF’s Arden will look and sound a lot like the hills of Yasgur’s Farm, complete with a live band setting Shakespeare’s songs to the sounds of folk, blues, rock, and soul of the 1960s.
